Chasing Google

Tulip mania or tulipomania (Dutch names include: tulpenmanie, tulpomanie, tulpenwoede, tulpengekte and bollengekte) was a period in the Dutch Golden Age during which contract prices for bulbs of the recently introduced tulip reached extraordinarily high levels and then suddenly collapsed.” – Wikipedia

Today, Google made a significant change to it’s Search Engine algorithm.  Now, the frantic chase has begun within the “SEO Industry!” It’s a frantic panic similar to the well-known “Dutch Tulip Frenzy.”

And small to mid-sized businesses are impacted…if your business development strategy is built upon technology.

Sphere Marketer & Analytics works with clients “on the move” – Build your client relationships…or read the next paragraphs. “SEO” and Social Media are not bringing you new client prospects or bonding your company to current clients.

Is “Chasing Google” improving your sales or client relationships?

“My initial impression was that something changed in the search results but it did not lead to any significant changes to the traffic one would receive from Google.

Then Pete Meyers from Moz reminded me in the comments section that Google is testing dropping featured snippets from the core web results, which should directly impact all of these tracking tools.  If you take out the featured snippet result from those core web results, that will make these tools light up.”

“So I reviewed a lot of the threads including the ongoing WebmasterWorld thread and a new Black Hat World thread and mostly, it is still pretty calm. The black hat thread is pretty quiet with just a few complaints about sites getting hit.  The WebmasterWorld thread actually has stories which may back up the theory of the featured snippets change.”

Companies are unable to scale to keep up with the social phenomenon.
We know customers are using these social technologies to share their voices and companies are having a very difficult time keeping up.

For you…real time is not fast enough.

Companies are unable to scale their financial and people resources to meet the needs of social media and SEO.

You need relationships…and you need them now.

Clients are more focused on your product and service solutions – your ability to deliver.

Clients just want their problems fixed…and are not particularly interested in knowing whether or how your business may be Chasing Google.
